Room for several cars in small dirt lot on Hurricane Mtn Rd, only 3 cars, including us, apparently used the lot this day. |

Mosquitoes were an annoyance, at some times worse than other times. Natrapel seemed to help some. |

Rain at times, and some passing thunder storms. Hot and muggy until after the storms, then just muggy. The fire tower lookout was in nice clean condition; the register book is full and it needs a fresh one. We noticed a FL car when we started out and soon met the owner descending with a huge backpack about 1.5 mile from the trailhead. She had spent the night up there and said that before this the only hills she had hiked on were golf courses in FL. This was her first time doing anything like this. She seemed quite happy. Good for her! A nice hike with Lone Wolf, thanks! I also liked the fact that the trailhead is only a few minutes from the Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewing Co. |
