Comments
Comments: i walked the forest road, which passed behind a small farm then turned more towards the peak. at a large clearing/old log landing the road i should have continued on quickly turned up and to the left out of the clearing, but i missed it and continued at the far end on what was more of an old snowmobile trail. this soon turned off course and i bushwhacked up in open woods and occasionally thick young hardwoods. around 1100 feet i picked up an old overgrown road/trail that ran towards the peak then under its cone to the south. from there it was a short, slightly steep, bushwhack in good woods up the the recognized highpoint. some poking around yielded limited views to white ledge and chocorua. i bushwhacked back to the old road and decided to follow it down. generally good going with working drainage despite being overgrown. at a junction with a more used road i turned left and this brought me back to the clearing mentioned above and the forest road. once back to where i parked i walked up birch hill road to a boulder blocked road on the right and headed east to the peak on old skid roads. eventually i picked up an overgrown snowmobile trail that led up to the summit and it was a very short bushwhack to the recognized highpoint. i followed this trail all the way back out to birch hill road about 2 minutes farther up the road than where i had started the original bushwhack.
