This is a lightly used trail with logging activity on the lower part. The first 0.6 miles is a fire road walk. A sign directs you onto the trail. The trail reaches the first part of the logging activity, an area where the trees have been thinned out. Fresh blazes have been painted, but pay extremely close attention for them. The trail is incredibly faint at times, making your reliance on the blazes incredibly important. There is one stretch where the trail is gone and there are no blazes. I constructed a couple of small cairns to assist. Hopefully they will be visible enough. I was able to locate the blazed trail again and continued on. The trail shows recent maintenance where the leaves have been raked off the trail. This will change come the fall. The next segment of logging activity was a couple of clear cuts. One of them has posts that you follow across the clear cut. The other one, the trail on the ground is easy to follow. After the clear cuts, the trail gets fainter with older blazes in areas of open woods. The trail goes up a small drainage, making it tricky to follow in places. The other tricky place is a minor drainage with no blazes after the pond. Despite this, the trail is followable with some alertness. Because the trail is lightly used, I would recommend this trail with people who have experience. |
