Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We spotted a car at Lincoln Woods on Sunday mid-morning. We had to park on the shoulder of 112 due to the full lot. When we got back Monday afternoon the lot was maybe 2/3 full. Our other car we left at the Nancy Pond trailhead on 302. One other vehicle (the ranger's pickup truck) was in that small lot when we got there and then the next day there was another different car. There is room there for several cars.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There was little difficulty with most of the many water crossings. They were rockhoppable. The only exception was the detour we made to see the Black Brook trestle by crossing the East Branch of the Pemi. It took a while to figure out a rock hop there, but it was not impossible.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in very good shape, with the exception of some occasional areas where they could have used some brushing due to picker bushes. For example, in the general area of Stillwater Junction where old logging camps have become overgrown. Also the herd path to Mt. Nancy is a quite brushy in places, but I guess it is not officially maintained so that's the way it is.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Some mosquitoes, but they didn't prove to be a serious problem.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: We found a Merrell trail shoe on the Wilderness trail, and left it there. Then about 4 miles later we saw the other shoe on the Pemi East Side Trail. So if you happen to see one shoe, pick it up and you will find the other one eventually.

Comments
Comments: Enjoyable two day traverse from 302 to Lincoln Woods. We climbed Mt Nancy and were originally planning on ascending Mt. Carrigain via the Desolation Trail but we ran out of time and energy. If it was a 3 day trip we could have done it. Thanks to all the guys for a great hike.
