Comments
Comments: The W-D Loop is in good shape except for the large tree mentioned above and a one or two mega-eroded rooty sections.

It took me a good while to find the path heading to Foss and Green (I don't like using GPS to find these sorts of things). Eventually I did find an out-of-place branch on the ground, walked through a couple of trees and found the path. At first there are some branches on the path which also look out of place - I'm guessing an effort to hide it - but then it was smooth sailing most of the way to Green. At a boggy area mid-way to Foss you actually have to take a left and head S to continue N. Then half way between Foss and Green I found staying on the path just a little problematic: the woods are more open, there are a couple of downed trees in the area and some leaves have come down on the path. Once beyond this spot the footpath is more well-defined again and the summit of Green is a short distance away.

On ascent I only encountered 2 folks on the S slope of Welch - each going in opposite directions. After that I didn't see a soul until I got back to Dickey's north ledges. Up, over and down Dickey there were some people here and there but not the mobs I expected. The loop hike itself is nice enough ('cept the crowds) but adding in the excellent ridge walk to - and the views from - Foss Mountain was a real pleasure given the beautiful weather. Knowing I had this entire ridge to myself was pretty sweet :)
