Comments
Comments: Nice loop to some trailless peaks in the Belknaps. Trails were dry with lots of leaves down now making for some slippery footing here and there. We went up the Fire Road and continued on it where the Round Pond Trail crosses. Made our way to the herd path over to the Round Pond-Piper Link. This herd path is flagged and easy to follow. We turned left on the Round Pond-Piper Link and continued a short ways to where a small cairn marks the start of the herd path to Suncook. The herd path was flagged and fairly easy to follow through the mostly open woods. We hit the summit and returned the same way back to the Pound Pond-Piper Link. From there we headed over to Round pond for a snack and headed out. On the way out we decided to make the short bushwhack up to the summit of Heator Mountain. Easy going through open woods and some small ledges near the summit. The summit is marked with a small cairn and a summit jar. The jar had fallen down so I tied it back up to a tree branch. We signed the register and headed back to my truck. Beautiful weather for a jaunt in the Belknaps. Lots of good foliage out there still with very nice color near the pond.
