Comments
Comments: Beautiful day for a hike. The Kilkenny Ridge Trail is between Cabot summit and unknown pond is rather narrow - sort of like a goat trail on the side of a hill. Surprising number of mud spots on the Unknown Pond Trail. I was trying to move fast to get back to the trailhead in time to get out before the gate for the hatchery closed at 4:00 pm (though I understand the gate is not locked), and it was tough to do. This hike kicked my butt.

Other than a couple of hunters I met 1/4 mile in from the trailhead at the beginning of the hike, I had the mountain to myself all day. I did hear gun shots during the morning and kept my bright orange shirt on all day to avoid being mistaken for a moose.
