Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All streams running, even the normally dry ones. No issues with crossing the tributary. Excellent cascades in Stony Brook right now.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Braced for a disaster based on reports of other damage in this area, I was pleasantly surprised to find the trail was largely spared from the recent storm. I removed six blowdowns, most minor. The largest was a multi-limbed beech above the flats. Wet areas as usual in the lower half mile of the trail, and again on the flats. Most drainages were getting the water off the trail and I unclogged a few others to remove the leaves. Some evidence of increased erosion in spots from the heavy rain, especially in the switchbacks, which are eroded anyway.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure.
Bugs
Bugs: Nope.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I grabbed a few pieces of flagging that someone had put up to mark the switchbacks last winter, which I must have missed last time.

Comments
Comments: This was mainly a post-storm visit to assess damage, which there was little of thankfully. The trail was mostly damp from recent rains. Summit ledges are dry. Some deep leaf cover in spots obscuring the footbed. Trees are bare, so some additional views from the trail open up this time of year. Lots of people out today, which was both nice to see and somewhat surprising. About a dozen folks, busy for Tremont.
