Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: On Watson Path, the crossing below Duck Fall was damp, with slightly icy rocks. The Snyder Brook crossings on Brookside took a bit more care, as the rocks were more icy, doable without traction, but with a damp boot/shoe.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Valley way to Scar junction was smooth sailing, as was the section of Scar we traveled. Watson had one large blowdown across the trail that we cleared. Upper Valley Way had several large clusters that have been tunneled through, so the trail is passable. We took out the first cluster encountered on descent from the hut, then met up with the trail maintainer, out trying to clear what he could with his sister-in-law. We cleared three large blowdowns on Lower Bruin, and de-limbed another on near the junction with Watson Path. A few uprooted trees make a couple of spots on Lower Bruin tricky as well. Only one blowdown on Brookside, near the bottom.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw three, Apollo with his human on Madison, one with the Valley Way maintainer, and Sarge who came up with Chris to greet us on Brookside. All loving the day!

Comments
Comments: Took a nice hike today up the Watson Path to accompany my friend James as he completed "Redlining" the AMC White Mountain Guide. Cold and clear up top, with very little wind, and still warm in the sun. Wildcat was blowing snow across the way too! Glad to help clear out what downed lumber we could, but Valley Way is still interesting in the upper reaches. Congratulations James!!!
