Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: rocks on first crossing of Avalon Trail are ice-covered. We used microspikes. Second crossing had a log and some rocks, all of which were loose/moving.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few duck-under and step-overs on Willey Range Trail. Largest obstruction was three downed conifers together on A-Z Trail. One blowdown on Mt. Tom Spur just before summit. Surprisingly, no significant blowdowns between Willey and Field (a usual trouble spot). A great deal of work has been done clearing obstructions since the Halloween storm. Thanks to those who did this work.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: Used spikes from first crossing for the rest of the day. Fairly slippery conditions with ice on lower part of Avalon Trail, and on same trail between A-Z Trail junction and Mr. Avalon. Otherwise, a couple of inches of packed snow.
