Awesome day for Caps Ridge Trail. spikes car to car. trail in good condition considering the October storm and lack of access due to storm damage on Jefferson Notch Road. someone had cleared a lot up to or about the Link earlier in the week. "Broke" trail in fresh powder from the last blowdown above the Link. There is nothing like putting down tracks in fresh powder. There was a moment or two in the Caps where I was considering how good an idea it was to be solo. Something about the Caps, also had that feeling on a solo sunrise hike last year. The summit was great, undercast to start and clouded over on departure, spent some time just watching the clouds. All in all a great day hiking. It felt good to clean up some and leave it better than it was.
Jefferson Notch Road opened end to end Tuesday. A big thank you to NHDOT Jefferson Patrol Shed 112 for there efforts repairing the storm damage.
