This was originally going to be a traverse using the Lincoln Trail for ascent, but we scaled it back to the usual loop due to the rainy weather.
Light rain most of the day made for wet trails. Both trails have significant ice starting about halfway up. I barebooted round trip, but others in our group put on spikes for part of the descent down Barlow. Footing was quite challenging in bare boots, requiring a lot of foot gymnastics to stay on rocks. Otherwise, ledges were wet but not slick. The summit ledges were wet but ice-free. No views from the summit as it was in a raincloud. Chilly on top so we didn't stay long. A crew was working up in the communications tower. Windows still not replaced in the fire tower after being blown out by wind last winter. No ice on the road walk. |
