Comments
Comments: Mt. Roberts Trail short distance to Settlement Trail, Faraway Mtn. Connector, Oak Ridge Cutoff, High Ridge Trail, Mt Shaw summit spur path, High Ridge Trail, Mt Roberts summit spur path, Mt Roberts Trail all the way down

Late start, but it worked out to my advantage, starting a little after 1pm, to first ascend Shaw, then approach the Roberts summit as sunset settled in a little after 4. The open ledges of Roberts are tailor-made for it!

Trails are in good shape, save several fallen trees on the trail, none difficult to overcome. All trails are marked well with colored diamond markers on trees, and rock blazes and smaller cairns on ledges near Roberts summit. Signs clearly mark all junctions and include mileages. What a great area to explore! A real gem of the Lakes Region.

Light traction (microspikes) are very helpful up toward and along the ridge, where you'll find light snow covering (<1 inch), and especially ice along many stretches. Traction near essential on the open ledges and below on the Mt. Roberts Trail.
