Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lots and lots of tiny brooks, lots of water running on the trail itself in certain sections.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A big thanks to the person(s) who delimbed that huge evergreen lying across the trail about a third way into the hike! Other blow downs will not be noticeable once they get buried. One duck under.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be o.k. for them; didn't see any today. You do walk through a meadow before entering the woods, so watch for ticks in season.

Comments: Carr Mountain Trail (off 25, near the Wildlife Center)

Is Carr Mountain the Wentworth/Warren watershed? I've never seen so many streams! Many muddy areas on trail. Not a problem today, but wait til those temps drop. You better have traction; I was glad I had mine (spikes) near the top. Prema got by with just bare boots. I thought I was way slower than usual, thinking it took forever to climb 2.9 miles. When I got to the sign near the top, Prema showed me that the 2.9 was the trail going down the other side (near Stinson Lake). We had actually done nearly 3.6 miles. Thank you to the young woman who passed us near the summit. This was a long one, the winds were up and the temps were down, and I was thinking of turning us around - she told me we were almost there. Not too much of a view where the fire tower ruins are (due to rapidly growing evergreens), but (as the other hiker said) fantastic alpenglow and a few views here and there on the way down. We had saved Waternomee Falls for the return, but who wants to look at waterfalls at 6:30 pm in late November? Should have paid better attention to the mileage or started much earlier. We'll save it for spring.
