Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
I had no problems, but would recommend light traction for the icy rocks on the water crossings. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I cleared around 20 blowdowns on the lower 3 miles of the Thoreau Falls Trail. Most were small and not much of a problem getting around. The upper 2 miles of this trail will still be in a similar condition, unless I can get there in the next few weeks. |

| Comments: |
I did my typical end of the year trail maintenance on Oct 28th, which ironically was 2 days before the storm. I was just able to make it back and the damage wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The washed out area around the half way point on the Thoreau Falls trail (due to Irene) is significantly more eroded. As mentioned in another report, it is difficult to hike over it. This section of the TFT will likely need to be re-routed. |
