Light traction the whole time except I did bareboot for a bit once I hit a lot of dry rock. The hike up cascade link was mostly packed with a small amount of new snow on top. Once on Pumpelly, there were drifts that were enough to be annoying, but not enough for shoes. This side was mostly ice free except for a few small spots. We descended via white cross which was very icy. I changed to my Hillsound trail crampons once I slid down a particularly icy spot.
Because it was such a short trip, we added a small loop up Parker, lost farm and cliff walk trails. This side was soft, wet snow. Once again, enough to be annoying but not enough for snowshoes. |
