Comments
Comments: Greenleaf trail was untracked, but there was evidence that it had a packed base. Unpacked snow on the trail was a foot or less except where there were drifts. Snowshoes with maximum flotation were best for the entire route. I took the trail to the pass, walking through it until I cleared the ledges. Lots of snow in the pass.

From the pass I took to the woods heading for the peak. Snow was deep and unconsolidated and the trees were quite snowloaded. Woods got quite thick too. The going was very steep. In several places, I had to turn around and repick route because of impassable steeps. At the top, going was very hard due to steepness, thickness, and very deep snow. I came very close to turning around a few times. I hit the summit, right near the recognized highpoint. The summit area had some of the worst going, with many feet of soft snow and spruce traps. Following my tracks out required turning around to down-climb on steep sections. Nobody had been through on the trail while I was out. A very tough winter bushwhack.

The canister needs a new screw end cap, as it broke when I removed it while it was very frozen and overtightened...sorry. I had a jar to preserve contents. Canister needs to move too as it's on a broken tree. The canister/jar are almost burried now, so it may be hard to find later in winter. I was quite cold and could only do so much today.
