snowmobiles have rode up the whiteface mountain trail to the saddle so that is well packed. there is a nice snowshoe track heading up piper and beyond to the view ledges with virtually no exposed ice anywhere on the ledges. back in the saddle i followed a rough packed snowmobile track all the way up to whiteface. some pretty crusty snow up around the summit area. fast descent on the packed track. bitter cold when exposed to the wind today, but otherwise it was absolutely beautiful. |
