These trails were fully broken out - keep to the middle of the trail to avoid postholing (even in snowshoes - I fell into a bush when I stepped at the edge of the trail!). The summit cone is covered with ~an inch of ice - snowshoes worked fine, there were some snow paths, and no exposed rock.
We cut left from Clark Trail over to West Ridge for a gentler ascent to the summit.
Wear your snowshoes the whole way or you will be miserable! Spikes would work at the top, but it’s such a short distance that it didn’t make sense to switch from our snowshoes. Pics posted to the NH 52 WAV FB page |
