Beautiful day! Snow on the lower stretch of the Boot Spur Trail was firm enough to not require snow shoes, but lots of deep postholes from the previous day. Good view of the recent (Saturday night?) slide in Tuckerman's Ravine. Lots of bare rock with the occasional icy patch on the upper, exposed section of Boot Spur. Deep snow on the densely treed section of Glen Boulder trail made for tough going through the branches. Tricky descending the icy open stretches above and especially below the boulder. Switching from microspikes to crampons really helped. |
