Comments
Comments: Spring-like conditions today. The snowpack is thin and sticky. You'd have a very hard time in snowshoes due to the boniness. Spikes were fine, but use caution approaching the lakes lookout and the rocky pitch above that, as there is significant ice lurking under the snow, which will become more exposed as the melting continues. Due to the sticky snow, it was difficult to get good purchase on the ice. I saw one person wearing crampons, which is not overkill for these sections.

Up on the ridge snow was a bit drier. Very windy in the exposed areas today, I got pushed around a few times. The side path to the east outlook had not been broken out. It also didn't look like Mead Trail had been used in a while. Lots of melting had occurred on the lower part of Wentworth on the return trip, creating some areas of mud.

Spectacular views of the Sandwich Range today!
