Osceola Trail is extremely slick. Microspikes were adequate on Greeley Pond Trail, but crampons were extremely helpful on Osceola Trail. Going down was much more challenging than going up. I encountered a number of people coming down with only microspikes who were essentially sliding from tree to tree in what appeared to me to be a very dangerous technique.
I carried snowshoes, but never needed them. |
