Comments
Comments: Trail was frozen with about an inch of new snow that was no problem for my Hillsound crampons. Most others had microspike on, but I was worried the trace snow would clog them - hence my crampons. It would have been difficult to wear snowshoes because of the frozen trail and random postholes from last weekend's rain/warm temps; we saw just one pair carrying them. There were a few patches of exposed ice along Valley Way, but the Osgood Trail was mostly rock with patches of snow/ice. It was super windy once I got to the hut. Before popping out above treeline I put my shell, goggles, and balaclava on. I kept a steady pace but was very deliberate with my movements because of the wind - it was blowing me around a bit but I could keep my balance with poles and a wide stance
