| Peaks |
Mt. Starr King, Mt. Waumbek (attempt), NH |
| Trails: |
Starr King Road, Starr King Trail |
| Date of Hike: |
Friday, January 26, 2018 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of room at the lot between the Irving/General Store |
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All minor, no problems |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No significant duckunders, but one broken trunk protrudes into the trail at eye/forehead level and is quite hazardous, about one mile up Starr King trail |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Until I turned around(unrelated to trail conditions), I saw as many dogs as people! Four of each |
| Bugs: |
none |
| Lost and Found: |

| Comments: |
Trail is perfect for microspikes. Snowshoes unnecessary. Bare booting would be sketchy given areas of covered ice.
Finally, the Irving Station looks like a classic "General Store" inside and has outstanding pizza by the slice. |
