Comments
Comments: Snow: Flume Brook and Rice mountain Roads were packed by snowmobiles. Snow off trail was mainly very supportive. On the way to Rice, there are lots soft spots around boughs and blowdowns. I seldom sunk over a few inches.

Woods: Woods were open, with most obstacles covered by snow. There were a couple very short pushes through snow-coated fur.

Route: I took Flume Brook road all the way to the col between Cave and the ridge to Rice. I headed straight at Cave, skirting a short cliffy area. I returned from the recognized highpoint to the col in my tracks. From the col, I took roads up to the wind gage, which has fallen down. I then took to the woods and followed the ridge all the way to the recognized summit of Rice. I dropped down the drainage heading west, quickly running into roads that fed to Rice Mountain Road, which I took down. I walked the paved road back to the car; I could have taken the snowmobile trail, but opted not as the snow was getting sticky.
