| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
parked in the lot off of rt 2. when we returned there were 3 cars parked sort of haphazardly on starr king rd before the summer lot. recommend just parking in the lot across the road as to not perturb the residents who live below the trail head. |

fast and fabulous hike. we brought spikes, crampons, and snowshoes. only used the spikes RT. snowshoes not needed at all. thought we might use the crampons on the descent where the snow was thin over the ice, but the sun warmed it up enough to give the spikes plenty of bite. between starr king and waumbek it is a stiff lumpy track of post holes, though if you're careful and pay attention you can walk a narrow monorail between them. overall a lovely beautiful day, plenty of other folks enjoying the sun and warm temps. we finished early enough to bag another 4k and with daylight to spare. |
