Comments
Comments: new snow depths along the trails from the recent storm varied from roughly 12-18 inches. some drifts and some thinner wind blown areas. the snow was fairly heavy, wet and sticky. there was a partially filled set of boot tracks coming down whiteface mountain trail that must have been put in sometime yesterday. from the junction with the link the trail was untouched up pipers south ledges to the vista trail. plenty of snow on the ledges with good grip and i didn't note any ice underneath. from vista the trail over the summit and to the north ledges had been travelled earlier in the day. piper trail had seen traffic, but the trail towards belknap looked untouched. i doubled back to whiteface mountain trail following the boot tracks again briefly before they turned down an atv trail. more untouched snow to the summit of whiteface that was becoming increasingly heavy and sticky late morning. a little thin cover on the upper ledges where it had been blown off. i followed my tracks back down to belknap mountain road. good to see some snow back in the belknaps.
