Comments
Comments: I parked at the 2nd lake dam, jumped briefly onto idlewilde spur and followed it down to the lake. I crossed the lake and bushwhacked to corridor 5. Snow was soft and deep on the lake and in the woods. I followed the snowmobile trail up to the scenic view spur, which climbs the northwest peak of Diamond Ridge. From here, I went over the Northwest peak and down, noting a road running through the col (this may run from the view, which would make this route easier). Lots of deep powder. I had to pick my way through some thicker stuff, choosing openings. I headed right at the peak, weaving through thick stuff, picking openings. I was sinking to knee depth. I hit a section of spruce traps where I was really sinking, needing to pull myself out by my elbows. Snow got a little better as I approached the recognized highpoint. I followed my tracks out. This peak finished the NH 3000 footers in winter for me; I'll wait for next year to finish my last 6 nh200 in winter.
