Trail was broken yet still pretty soft from the road up to the Piper-Whiteface Link junction. From here it was not broken all the way to the summit. I was fortunate to run into another hiker at the junction that was heading up to whiteface. A snowmobile had been up to the col on the jeep road but turned around and didn't go to the summit. Lots of deep drifts along the jeep road portion making breaking trail more difficult. A nice snowshoe track now set up but will need more tracks to firm it up. Looked like a well broken trail up the Piper-Whiteface Link although I would still recommend snowshoes anywhere in the range right now. |
