Comments
Comments: The plan was out and back up Willey. Ethan Pond is broken out to Willey Ridge. From there out to Zealand it is NOT broken out. Willey Ridge is and all other trails listed are broken out and fairly well traveled. Bare booted to the steep approach to Willey but my partners wore snow shoes. Added microspikes at the steep section. The ladders are mostly buried. At the summit of Willey I decided to Traverse instead of going down Willey. We did pass one couple descending that way. Weather was too nice to pack it in early! The rest of the hike was in spikes. Expect postholing if you leave the narrow monorail. Got warm towards that afternoon and things got mushy.
