A great clear warm day! Started with microspikes on hard packed trail. A few thousand feet up trail was still firm enough to keep with the spikes. The short scramble just below WF summit was a mix of packed snow and bare rock with no Ice flow to worry about. Just after summit we noticed our feet sinking just a bit, then a flattened out spot where the weekenders decided to switch to snowshoes. We went just a short distance after that and followed suit in the somewhat softer conditionsand left them on for the duration of the trip until the very end where it was a mix of packed snow and bare ground and rock. I bare booted from there and Therese returned to spikes. Another great day in the whites with my sis! |
