Comments
Comments: Excellent footing in bare boots to start. I put on crampons near the start of the Mt. Osceola Trail. By 3,000 feet, there were several inches of new snow over ice with no sign of monorail. Some side hill sections were particularly tricky. I kicked steps with increasing difficulty up the steepest section until the slide crossing at 3,600 feet and decided to call it a day. I couldn't find secure footing even on the sides of the trail. I think there is frozen rain and sleet over everything under the new snow.
