Conditions: With the freeze, the broken out trail is now solidified. Frozen and firm. A little lumpy, but in excellent shape. Made good time today in my Hillsounds. Some sections on the steeps are quite icy, but enough snow on the sides to work around it. I carried crampons and snowshoes, knowing darn well that I wouldn't need my snowshoes, but hey, what do we train for right? A pretty nice day. Temps not too cold and the wind wasn't a factor being in the trees. Even saw some blue sky later. I saw one other hiker with her dog getting a late start on my way out. The C-M Trail south was broken but didn't appear to be as good as the north side. A great day out. |
