| Comments: |
What a difference a day makes. While I wore snowshoes roundtrip, one could Microspike this whole loop without postholing today, due to freezeup and sustained cold temperatures during the day. Trails were all hardpack frozen granular with the occasional blue ice bulge or open area from runoff. Lots of postholes on Carter Dome Trail above Zeta Pass from barebooters during warm temps - a pain to snowshoe or walk on as a result. This area should remain firm until next above freezing day or snowstorm. Ideal bushwhacking conditions in upper elevations as well. |
