Wonderful hike in the rain. Wore Kahtoola spikes and use trekking poles for the entire hike, there were some spots where the trail was sheer unbreakable ice but the ice did melt some from the warm temps. I did not need snowshoes though I was glad I brought them. The river crossing was the trickiest part of the trail. I wouldn't attempt this if the rain was worse than it was today. I saw 7 other hikers. The rocks on the summit had minimal to no snow. The rain stopped when I summited for 5 minutes and there was a beautiful view of the south. |
