Parking/Access Road Notes:
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: At the largest crossing I used a slightly submerged rock. One could've avoided this with a short jump or I'm sure there were other (keep the feet dry) options with a little planning.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in fairly nice shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Plentiful water down lower and probably puddles up high with a little searching. Easy trail for them.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad today. I'm sure if you stopped long enough in some spots they'd find you.

Comments
Comments: A far better day than anticipated. Views--if you can see it from Cabot you could see it today. Rain--held off until after 3:00 as forecast. Bugs--no bother at all; I was prepared with net and spray after what I experienced in Vt. on Thursday. Nice trails--lots of dry trail; few sections of monorail below cabin and 50\50 above cabin. Brought snowshoes and rock spikes and never considered using either. Snowshoes definitely not needed and you could avoid the ice\monorail while staying on trail with careful foot placement. As I've seen others say carrying a pair of spikes is a good idea even if you don't use them. Only 5 others seen; surprised not more hiking further north with the forecast.
