Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Quite an adventure getting back to my car on Route 112 from Lafayette Campground. Apparently NH Motor Vehicle Title XXI, Section 265:40 does not apply to Franconia Notch Parkway even though this exception is not stated anywhere - at least that I could find. As such I was asked to walk S on the bike path until out of FNSP. While on Route 3 I was finally (and mercifully) picked up.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing of Eliza Brook @ shelter was not an issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many fallen trees on KRT from Eliza Brook Shelter to South Kinsman. Some can be nasty and close to impassable without some creativity - i.e belly crawl, very careful sit-n-spins, all fours, etc. Interestingly I don't recall a one past South Kinsman through the Cannonballs.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a couple well-behaved canines enjoying the day.
Bugs
Bugs: Zero.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Day two of an overnight hike...

After a cool night at Eliza Brook Shelter I continued N on KRT. In addition to the blowdowns mentioned above, KRT has spots of wetness and mud with some slippery rocks and roots throughout. Lonesome Lake Trail is rough and eroded above the hut and well trodden below it.

I didn't see a soul until descending N Kinsman and then only four on the Cannonballs. Once on Lonesome Lake Trail there were many people both above and below the hut. No views from the Kinsmans due to clouds but still a comfy and enjoyable day despite the KRT roller coaster.

At about 1 PM just as I came off KRT I heard what must have been a military aircraft roar through the sky. Wish I could have caught a glimpse of it. My thanks and appreciation to those in the Armed Forces who did what they did so folks like me can do what I like to do.
