Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Third crossing of Little River very manageable, few rocks under an inch or so of water - no issues with all other small crossings
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Upper part of North Twin trail is significantly more eroded in places than the last time I was here a few years ago. Scattered blowdowns including one large patch about a mile up from the crossing. Most ditches could use a good cleaning too - the ones on the spur looked to have been cleaned recently but many need to be deepened to allow for more water to flow off trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hannah had a great day, clouds kept it cool and plenty of water along the way - she forded part of the third crossing but I'm sure it cooled her down - very happy trail dog
Bugs
Bugs: No major issues for this time of year
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a black, red and silver Leki collapsable pole on the herd path around the blowdown patch mentioned above - tried to find its owner today to no avail so left it at the North Twin trailhead on the way out

Comments
Comments: Out and back of the Twins today, I think Haystack Road being closed deterred some people as it wasn't too crowded for a long weekend - took the herd path to bypass the first two crossings, able to stay low near the river as water levels were manageable. No view at either summit and of course all the clouds cleared on the way down, bit breezy up high so we didn't linger long. Saw several other friendly folks out including some AMC trail crew headed out to do work on the Twinway, thanks for your trail work - no navigational issues and only saw a few tiny patches of snow up high, barely hanging on. Thanks Ali and Hannah for a fun day.
