Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I spoke with a construction crew member on the walk in via Zealand road. He told me they anticipate being done either Friday (1 June) or the following Monday-Tuesday. After that, the plan is to move on to Wild River and do work there that will last until around August, at which point, they'll be turning their sights toward Sawyer River Road. Assuming the engineers give their approval, that road could be re-opened as soon as September. He wasn't going to give total assurances that this would all come to fruition, but he was still fairly sure things were going to pan out one way or another. Stay tuned.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None of significance. Waterfalls are beautiful, but water levels are low enough to pose no issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Per the hut manager at Zealand, the trail maintenance crew started at Lincoln Brook and cut their way up past Guyot, and headed out by way of Zealand trail, leaving large quantities of wood chips in their wake. I saw ample evidence of same -- all day, there wasn't a single blow-down in my way. It was pretty amazing, really, how thorough and good a job they did. Thanks very much, guys, it's certainly appreciated.
Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: Trails (as I saw them) are in great shape. Maintenance crews are wrangling the blow downs, and seriously, that can't be overstated. They're truly putting in a herculean effort.

I ended up bagging Guyot and Bond on a spur of the moment jag after getting Hale and Zealand, so the write up (with pictures) on my blog will be forthcoming -- ideally within the next 24 hours, but it might take a bit more than that. The Whites were especially photogenic today.

Also, on my way past Zealand Hut heading home, the croo offered up some delicious Risotto. Best. Dinner. Ever. Some really wonderful people up there.
