Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues crossing Twin Brook, it's very low.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This was the (late) spring maintenance trip for my adopted half upper half of the CFT. Several blowdowns were cleared of various sizes. The large blowdown reported here near the start of the trail has been recently removed. All 28 water bars were cleaned. I also brushed in two herd paths on the ridge that were being used for bathrooms. In general, this trail continues to erode from very heavy use, especially above the falls. I see reconstruction in its future. Notes on other trails: MST could use refreshed blazes on the ledges, and is narrow and brushy in scrubby areas along the ridge. There was one large leaner on CFCO which had been limbed. I removed the rest of it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure.
Bugs
Bugs: Out, but not too bad. On the ridge, wind helped.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One almost full water bottle, one empty water bottle, a handkerchief, and a chamois thing. All were carried out.

Comments
Comments: Late spring maintenance trip on the upper half of CFT. While I was on the ridge, I popped up to First and Middle Sister for the views. Mostly dry trail all around, although CFCO had some areas of wet and slick ledge in shady areas. Several folks out on the trail today, including some first-timers to Chocorua and a redliner in his 70s. :)
