Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Eisenhower (attempt), NH
Trails
Trails: Crawford Connector, Mt. Clinton Road, Edmands Path
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, July 5, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Mt. Clinton Road still needs some big trunks removed from the sides of the road. Additionally, one culvert is failing rather badly, which I suspect is why the road remains closed. There was plenty of parking available at the lot on Mt. Clinton Road. USFS folks were out issuing tickets for cars that did not have parking pass displayed.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bridge on lower part of Edmands Path is washed out. Still easy enough to rock hop crossing with the low water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Crews have done yeoman's work on Mt. Clinton Road and Edmands Path. Did not encounter any blowdowns on the trail below 3900 ft. There's a stretch around 3500 ft or so of devastation on both sides of the trail. Crews did a fantastic job of clearing the trail, but the damage is incredible to see up close.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Did not see any, as I imagine it was probably too hot for them.
Bugs
Bugs: Brutal, especially down low. The humid, stagnant air did us no favors.

Comments
Comments: A hot and humid day turned out to be a little too much. One of our guys bonked out at about 3900', and the decision was made to call the hike and turn back. I have never sweat so much on a hike before. Every article of our clothing was able to be wrung out of all the sweat it collected.
