 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at McCrillis trailhead and biked 2.5miles to Bennett St. The parking lot at the end of Bennett st (and by the end...i mean keep going and going and going on the single lane dirt road till you can't go no more) has room maybe 8 cars. the mention of Jose's bridge in the guidebook gave me the impression that I if I drove to this trail head that there would be a road walk between the car and the start of the trail, but that is not the case. |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Easily & carefully rock hopped. Even with the recent rain, water levels were not dangerously high. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
there were a few step overs on FMP trail between the Bennett St trail junction and the shelter, but nothing to worry about. All the trails easily followed regardless of lack of blazing some low spots were wet & muddy, but nothing like i expected after the rain. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
fine. plenty of water, though there are signs on Bennett street that warn against the use of "Bear dogs", so i guess if you bring 'em keep 'em leashed. |
|
 | Bugs: |
too humid. they couldn't fly. |

 | Comments: |
a day of redlining. Bennett St trail is a gem. and plenty of places to sit and soak when it's hot and humid. Flat Mtn Pond is pretty, but after watching leeches swim along the shore, I would hesitate before taking dip. the trail gets bouldery as it winds around the pond and the humidity made everything extra slick, but still easily followed.
so close to 50% i can taste it! |
