room for many cars at the higher trailhead - road was pretty good to upper trailhead - I had 4WD but would be comfortable with 2WD. Several 2WD cars had parked at lower parking lot. No Fee. |

Terrific first little hike of the day. I had never actually parked at this trailhead before as when I did the trail for redlining, I came over from the Chippewa side. First thing in the morning, there was nobody on the summit. I went over to tipping rock, which is on the far left side (following all herd paths) as you face out from the summit. Napped on the smooth, warm rocks - felt like fall was in the air!!!! Very quiet up there for once!!!! NICE!!!! |
