Hiked Kineo Trail until I was just a bit shy of due east of Black Hill peak. Hearing folks mention the cliff bands, I had reviewed CalTopo to find a line that might avoid the rocks. Homework paid off... and I had an easy, though steep at times, line up to the summit. The jar was on the ground full of water, no log book, and the lid was several feet away. (I will start hiking with replacement jars and logs.) As I had such a good line and as I was solo, I didn't tempt fate with a traverse and rocks, but instead followed my same topography back to the trail. |
