Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Steward at trailhead said lot had filled by 7:00 but only about 15-20 cars roadside at 9:30. Plentiful safe roadside spots or little pull offs within short distance of trailhead. Did notice hikers coming in from Cog lot path despite being told they had closed that entry route.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Any crossings either bridged or easily rock stepped across. Highest crossing on Ammo may be unnerving to some or to those with dogs as you must take a couple of steps on wet ledge above a spot where you don't want to slip.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Ammo and Jewell typical WM trails. Few near rotted planks at start of Ammo and middle section of Jewell could use brushing out before winter hopefully. Last bridge crossing on Jewell might be difficult picking up trail on opposite side after dark if not for some flagging placed at spot where trail departs brook area.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several. One where owners were very concerned about its safety on lower Ammo; not sure if they went all the way up for there were worse spots ahead of them.
Bugs
Bugs: Only time bothering was small flies when stopping below tree line on Jewell.

Comments
Comments: Expected the crowds and they were there until departing Washington around 3:30. I can deal with busy trails but some things I saw hikers doing were rather annoying. This was a repeat of my first NH hike back in July 1999 and I hope I didn't make these same mistakes back then. 22 minute wait at summit but again was expecting this on a beautiful Saturday. Nice chatting with many; especially the thru hikers and Pressie traversers.
