Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: got to Lincoln woods lot just after 6am and plenty of parking. not the case when I returned just before 2pm
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels were reasonably low so crossings were not that bad - I was prepared to take boots off several times but did not need to. Some rock hops could be challenging depending on your agility and strength
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: wilderness trails so expect some over growth in areas and significant mud but for the most part trails were in good shape. Nothing to point out here of any significance for trail maintainers
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: with some exceptions on the owls head slide this is a good dog friendly trail - water the whole way except for owls head itself. Although I dont have a dog, one could have helped me when i encountered a bear family on lincoln brook trail
Bugs
Bugs: some flies up top of owls head otherwise none the while way there and up/down owls head

Comments
Comments: great weather for this hike and absolutely beautiful trails. The fresh smells of the lincoln brook as your are hiking up it are intoxicating and cannot be duplicated anywhere in the 48 4K's i have traveled. Took the black pond bushwhack on the way back - fairly easily found my way with a compass - the first 3/4 of the whack are very obvious but just before the pond you can easily lose it - just point compass due south and you are good to go - worth doing as it not just cuts off some of the monotonous lincoln woods trail but has some nice wilderness beauty and pond views. Note - I ran into (almost literally) a momma bear and 4 cubs on the lincoln brook trail on the way back.
