CAUTION: At approximately 1 mile in from Tripoli Road there is a Bee/Hornets nest in the ground. One of our group was stung approximately 20 times. The location was marked before and after the swarm. There is a blue (empty) poop bag in a tree on the left side of the trail on assent and a bright orange fabric tie on the right side on descent. Both flags are approximately 5 feet off the ground. The exact spot is unknown as we ran away from the swarm. We were able to bushwack back down around the area as the bees/hornets were disturbed and we did not want to walk through them again. Please take care in the area and do not use poles in between the 2 marks as we feel that is what caused them to swarm.
The person who was bitten was given benadryl as a precaution. We then went to Speare Memorial in Plymouth. She is fine, but in a bit of pain that should subside within 24 hrs. |
