Date of Hike: Wednesday, September 19, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: It is possible to drive (via Magalloway Rd. and Smith Brook Rd.) to the saddle between the 2 peaks (approx. 9 miles from route 3). However, after about 2.5 miles on Smith Brook Rd. (there are a couple of cabins at this point) the road gets increasingly rough/ High clearance and AWD recommended.

Comments
Comments: There is an excellent herd path (better than many trails) from the parking area in saddle between the 2 peaks to Stubb Hill Pond. It is easy to locate and easy to follow. Tag to the right at the lake and there a are a series of faint herd-paths / game paths leading up towards the summit.

The tree which holds the canister on Stubb Hill is down. The canister is on the down-facing side of the tree (of course!) and very difficult to see unless you are on your hands and knees. However, it is accessible once you locate it. Bringing tools to re-locate it would be a good consideration (I did not have tools and could not do it). Also, the note-pads in the canister were completely soaked and no better than trash. I removed and discarded it all - leaving a bag with some pens. I am hoping that anyone who reads this and is planning to go up there will be kind enough to bring a new note pad (and some plastic bags).
