Comments: Started out on the 19 Mile Brook Trail, then did the loop clockwise ascending Carter Dome Trail, to Carter-Moriah Trail up to Mount Hight, across to Carter Dome then down through Carter Notch to 19 Mile Brook Trail. The ascent up 19 Mile and Carter Dome is moderate the entire way - a really nice climb. After one stream crossing the trail takes a hard left, takes a few minutes to figure that out. The climb to Mount Hight made up for the moderate climb, very steep for .4 miles, but worth it - beautiful 360 views from the top and in the alpine zone. From Mount Hight it's an easy amble over to Carter Dome. Continuing on the Carter-Moriah trail on moderate grades, after about .5 mile there is a spectacular view over Carter Notch, then a VERY steep descent down to the notch and lake (take it slow on this part). At the lake a right turn joined up with the 19 Mile Brook, and after a short climb out of the notch it was easy to moderate grades the whole way back to route 16. Just under 6 hours hiking time for this loop.
