Comments: One of Rocket21's finest finds--Fisher Mountain! Becca and I made fast work of the forest roads and we were able to follow the worn footbed and the old blue blazes across the wide open granite slabs all the way to the summit. I recalled that last time I was here and we backtracked a bit and went out to the north facing cliff--great views all the way to Cannon+ clouds were hanging just above 4k. Bushwhack to Hogback was straight forward with some wet areas, more granite slabs and nothing too steep. We landed in col a bit nearer to the southern bump/highpoint so we went and tagged it first--nice open summit with more super views. We decided to visit the slightly lower northern bump since the steep ledge face looked wild from Fisher. There is a deep col between these too and a bit thick in a couple places. The bump didn't disappoint with more open ledges. (Neither bump was recognized I should have had a jar with me.) We went back over to the higher bump of Hogback and enjoyed a nice break of leaf peeping and watching the clouds roll in and cover Green's summit. Interesting bushwhack to the middle of the ridge between Foss and Green. Tried not to lose elevation and stayed high above the drainage, sometimes it was steep and ledgy with open views. Crossing over the top of the drainage it was jail cell spruce but for only about 25 minutes of fun push push, open above the tiny stream and then push push back into decent woods. Once on the herdpath to Green we made good time and had a few blowdown messes to get around. Summit sign and jar still there and we looked ourselves up back in Nov 2015 in icy conditions we had signed the registered. Down and around the summit bump we followed a well worn herd path a short distance before it faded away and old crazy yellow blazes we followed straight up to the WV communications tower. We skipped along the Sosman trail, took a right at the silly Tecumseh sign looped over the summit, stopped by lower ledge since 25 people were on top in the clouds, we had our own private view down to the valley. Danced down the stairs, met the talented dedicated trail maintainer just above the last water crossing working stones. WV is doing major lodge work! Glad for a super bushwhack and not rain!
